Star Career Academy’s Commercial Cooking certificate program prepares students for entry-level kitchen employment in a wide variety of commercial foodservice establishments. Students will learn skills by actively applying themselves in hands-on classes and learning about the practical side of professional food preparation.

In the Commercial Cooking program students learn the fundamentals of knife skills, stocks, soups, sauces, starches, vegetables, as well as meat and fish preparation. Topics include pastry arts, quantity food production and service, themed catering, presentation styles, food purchasing, food handler’s sanitation, recipe conversion, menu development, and restaurant operations. Students gain skill and knowledge through technical lessons, instructor demonstrations, and performance-based training in industry-standard, state-of-the-art kitchens and simulated dining areas.
