Star Career Academy’s Professional Baking & Pastry certificate program prepares students for entry-level kitchen employment in a wide variety of commercial foodservice establishments with baking departments. Students will learn skills by actively applying themselves in hands-on classes and learning about the practical side of professional food preparation.



In the Professional Baking & Pastry program students learn the fundamentals of baker’s math, recipe conversion, standard mixing methods, custards, laminated doughs, chemistry of leaveners, quick breads, artisan breads, cake baking and decorating, chocolate, candy, healthy alternatives, restaurant plated desserts, and pastry menu development. Students gain skill and knowledge through technical lessons, instructor demonstrations, and performance-based training in industry-standard, state-of-the-art kitchens, as well as simulated dining areas.
